Because reforming the public school education system is key to creating active and productive citizens, His Highness the Emir has made education one of the main priorities in his vision for Qatar.
Her Highness Sheikha Mozah acts as Vice-President of the SEC and helps to design educational policy. The Supreme Education Council was established by an Emiri decree in 2002 to oversee the comprehensive reform of Qatar's public school system. "Education for New Era" brought about new, high quality, government-funded schools, and new standards based on International curricula
Her Highness also promotes education in other areas: families, health and culture. As President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, for example, she has created the Shafallah Center for children with special needs, to provide learning opportunities for children with disabilities. Her aim is to extend learning to the widest possible benefactors. |
