Sheikha Mozah and Aliyeva attended the closing session of the Youth for Alliance of Civilisations conference in the Azeri capital. The conference recommendations will be presented at the International Alliance Forum due to convene under the aegis of the United Nations in Spain in January. At the close of the conference participants announced the Baku Declaration in which they stressed the need to address differences between cultures and nations that have given rise to cultural and political conflicts. The participants welcomed the report of the UN High-Level Group which has diagnosed the causes of these conflicts, and recommended remedial and preventive measures, especially in the areas of education, youth migration and the media. The declaration called on governments and inter-governmental organizations to promote international understanding and harmony among communities and nations through educational programmes, including cultural exchanges. The conference decided to establish an international, inter-generational movement called 'Youth for the Alliance of Civilisations Movement'. Back to What's New |
