Since 1995, His Highness the Emir has led comprehensive, large-scale educational reforms in Qatar. Entrusted by the Emir, Her Highness Sheikha Mozah is working to raise educational standards and create new learning opportunities for all members of society. She is committed to building a modern, world class educational system in Qatar.
As Vice-President of the Supreme Education Council, the leading authority on education policy in Qatar, Her Highness aims to improve student learning and school performance at the K-12 level, in the public sector.
Through her occupation as President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, Her Highness promotes education in all areas of the community, including education for children with special needs, learning for the disabled as well as training for the economically under-privileged.
Through the Qatar Foundation, Her Highness has developed pilot educational projects which make Qatar a centre of excellence in higher education and research, in addition to an important contributor to world knowledge
Her Highness also works on an international level to raise the standards of education around the world. As UNESCO's Special Envoy for Basic and Higher Education, her projects include the International Fund for Iraqi Higher Education, established in 2003 to help the reconstruction of institutions in Iraq.
